Crisp mechanical function and a folding spring-loaded bayonet
This is a nice Henry Nock Blunderbuss with a brass barrel and folding spring-loaded bayonet. Bayonet tip to butt is 44”, the bayonet blade is 12” and the Blunderbuss is itself is 31 1//2” in length. It is very solid both wood and metal. There is evidence of an old repaired crack in the wood burl opposite side of the lock next to the screw head. It has the original ramrod with an auger tip and. The repaired crack is tight as can be and solid. The brass fittings and butt plate are lightly engraved. Henry Nock is well noted for his exceptional fine workmanship and he was also firearms maker to the King of England. The muzzle diameter is 1 ½” and the inside bore diameter is 7/8”. The mechanical function is crisp and tight. The spring-loaded bayonet snaps into position nicely and locks up tight. Brass barreled spring loaded bayonets made by H. Nock are RARE.
