This is marked Ballard’s Patent 1861 on the right rear barrel flat and Merwin & Bray New York on the left barrel flat. The top is marked Ball & Williams, Worcester, Mass. The 26” octagon barrel is about 7/8” flat to flat. The mechanical function is very good, crisp and tight. The bore is very good, bright and shinny with strong rifling. The wood is very good and the rear tang has a flip up peep site. The serial number is 4336 and the barrel, receiver and falling block are all matching numbers. This one retains 80% original barrel finish of which is over 65% blue. It has very nice wood and metal finish. These were made 1865-1866.
