This is an original Model 1836 Johnson 54 caliber smooth bore flintlock pistol. The mechanical function is very good and has an excellent bright and shinny bore. It has two very sharp and crisp inspector cartouches on the wood wrist. There is a tiny solid repaired crack next to the cock. All of the wood and the crack are solid. I would rate this one about very fine condition. Total quantity of less than 18000 made. The lock is dated 1842 and the 8 ½” barrel is marked U.S. J.H. P. This is an original flintlock and not a percussion reconverted back to flintlock.
