This is a very heavy spear point bowie knife with an 8” blade and 13 ¼” overall length. It is marked on the ricasso a cross and a star Joseph Rodgers & Sons Cutlers to Their Majesties No. 6 Norfolk Street Sheffield and on the middle top edge of the blade S.W. Silver & Co. Corn Hill. London. The phrase Cutlers to Their Majesties was used prior to 1875. The blade is 1 1/8” wide and ¼” thick. The guard is nickel silver and the handles are checkered horn with 5 pins. The blade is very good plus condition. The scabbard has a leather frog and the backside has a monogram S.W. Silver Co. London with SWC in the middle. The scabbard has a nickel silver tip. I have never encountered a bowie knife scabbard like this one before.
