Description
Only 250 were made in the early 1860s. This is the Second Model with the loading gate hinged at the bottom. This is serial number 175 and is matching numbers. This retains over 35% original finish and the mechanical function is crisp and tight and the bore is very good bright and shiny with only a couple of minor imperfections. The markings are crisp and sharp. This center hammer 44 Lip Fire was actually manufactured before the percussion 44 center hammer revolver. The lip fire would have continued on except for the successful patent infringement against Allen & Wheelock by Smith & Wesson.
