Model 1863 U.S. Double Rifle Musket/Bayonet

Rare Double hammer, 95% original finish

Description

This is a very RARE U.S. 1863 Double Rifle and is a single barrel 58 caliber percussion rifle. This was made by J.P. Lindsay of New York, Patented Oct. 9. 1860. Only 1000 were made between 1863 and 1864. The mechanical function is excellent and the bore is excellent, bright and shiny. The barrel is 41 1/8” long and all parts are finished bright. The wood and metal retain over 95% original finish. The inspector cartouches, ADK and ADK are very crisp. These were loaded with both charges on top of each other. In combat sometimes both charges fired at the same time. This is one of the reasons why they are so RARE and so few Lindsay rifles are remaining. Comes with U.S. Rifle Musket model 1855/70 bayonet.
