This is a very interesting early Colt 49 Pocket revolver with a 5” barrel. It is all matching except for the not numbered barrel assembly. It retains 75% silver on the back strap and trigger guard. The serial number is 48084 and was made in 1852. The mechanical function is very good crisp and tight. Its bore on this 5” barrel is very good bright and shiny with only a very tiny amount of corrosion. The cylinder retains over 85 % of the scene and the safety pins are worn. Someone may have lost or just wanted a longer barrel and ordered one from Colt or one of the Retailers. This was just in time for the California Gold Rush.
