This is the finest 1842 Musket that I ever have encountered. It still has much of the original arsenal storage grease still on the metal. There is one bruise on the right front wood that happened during the Loma Prieta earthquake. The mechanical function is crisp and tight and the bore is bright and shiny like new condition. The VP eagle head are crisp as can be. The 1855 tang date is as new condition. The lock markings and date are just like it left the arsenal. Not a spec of pitting around the nipple area, it is crisp like new condition.
