This is a HIGH condition 1863 Remington Zouave rifle. It is 58 caliber and they were made between 1862 and 1865 and total of 12,501. The blue and case colors are 97% and the wood is 97% with two crisp inspector cartouches. It has a 33” round barrel. The metal is blue except for the case colors on the lock and hammer. The barrel bands and trigger guard are brass, while the tulip head steel ramrod is finished whit. The mechanical function is excellent like new and the bore excellent, bright and shiny, like new. Both of the inspector cartouches are crisp as can be. The lock is U.S. marked with the eagle dated 1863 and the barrel is dated 1863. Flayderman’s calls it the best-made and designed military arm of the Civil War era.
