Description
This is a First Model Single Action 38 CF aka Baby Russian and it comes with a Factory Smith & Wesson Letter from the S&W Historical Foundations Historian. This is a nickel 4” barrel with black hard rubber grips. This is serial number 14727 and shipped from the factory July 27,1876 to M W Robinson, S&W’s largest distributor at the time. The wholesale cost at $12.50 each for them at that time. The revolver retains 90% frame nickel and the barrel retains about 45-50% nickel and the cylinder retains 85% original nickel finish. The revolver probably was put away in a wet holster. The mechanical function is very good crisp and tight and the 4” bore is very good bright and shiny but does show traces of corrosion from the corrosive priming use at that time.
