This is New Jersey Militia marked on the left rear flat and on the left side forward of the wrist. It has a 40” barrel and is 58 caliber. There is the Sub Inspector L behind the trigger guard. The lock is dated 1863 and the mechanical function is very good and tight. The bore is good plus bright and shiny with minor corrosion. The wood in not cracked or damaged, this is about very good plus overall and is a solid Civil War rifle. Between 75,000 and 100,000 were made. Comes with the bayonet.
