Description

This is a Type ll 50 caliber split breech carbine and was part of a Oct. 1864 contract for 15,000. The mechanical function is very good crisp and tight and the bore is excellent bright and shiny. It has a 20” barrel, saddle ring and a split breechblock. The barrel is a plum and blue color with dark case color on the frame and a faint wrist cartouche outline is still visible on the wood. The majority were purchased back by Remington in 1870 and quickly resold to the French Government for the Franco-Prussian war.
