Description
This is a US H. Aston Model 1842 smooth bore 54 caliber pistol with swivel rammer. These were made from 1845-1852. The lock is marked US H. Aston with 1847 lock date and the barrel tang is dated 1848. All of the markings are crisp with two Inspector Cartouches. Samuel Marcy and William Anderson Thornton on the wood flat left side. The mechanical function is very crisp and tight with a very good smooth bore. Henry Aston made 24,000 of these Percussion pistols. The metal and wood are fine plus condition.
