Description
This is a Jenks Navy rifle 54 caliber with a very good bright and shiny bore. The mechanical function is very good crisp and tight. The lock is marked N.P. Ames and the breech is stamped Wm Jenks USN RP over P 1844 dated chamber. The loading aperture is oval shaped so a ball and powder paper cartridge could be loaded more rapidly. Only traces of case colors remain and no barrel brown left. No cartouches are remaining on the wood flat. The butt plate tab has a P and the trigger guard has a P and the rear flat metal behind the trigger guard has a P also.
