Description
Chicopee Falls Co. made 100 muzzle loading flintlock rifles for Wm. Jenks 1838-1839. The breech is marked J.H. for James Harris Armory Sub-Inspector and has the P barrel proof mark. On the left wood flat is J.H. in the Cartouche. The Cartouche at the rear of the Comb almost to the butt plate toe is M P L for Mann P. Lomax. The mechanical function is very good crisp and tight. The bore looks to be very good with decent rifling. This one appears to be original flintlock. There is a #3, one each of the barrel bands on the left side. The wood has dings and dents and has a repair on the right side between the first and second barrel band. There is a bayonet lug at the bottom of the muzzle end. These are very RARE rifles.
